Vallerie & Brenda’s Portland Fall Engagement
I can’t express how excited I was when Brenda and Vallerie asked me to photograph their wedding and engagement. Not only are they extremely sweet and perfectly into each other (with googly eyes and all), but they also happen to be a huge milestone for me personally in my business. Yes I said me personally in my business. I realize I don’t always make sense, and only kinda do.
It’s really crazy, ridiculously crazy, for me to admit it. Like, it’s hard for me to write this. But sweet Brenda and Vallerie are my first ever booked LGBTQ couple. Like whaaa?!!
Obviously my vocabulary is way down the drain in this post. However, it’s a great reminder of how I need to show the work that describes my own personal beliefs. And my beliefs folks, is that everyone deserves true love; the kind with goggly eyes, jokes that take forever to get to a punchline, and hold you tight under golden yellow leaves.
Thankfully, that’s exactly the kind of love that Brenda & Vallerie have for one another. And it was an absolute joy to capture that.
What can I say about this session? To start, Brenda & Vallerie wanted a fall engagement session. Thankfully, they were patient with me as I took random walks to examine the conditions of the fall foliage.
One afternoon I emailed that I had found the spot! With clusters of leaves on the ground & bright yellow on the trees we set the date.
We walked around and the canopy of trees. I quickly noticed how easily they fell into one another and how incredibly ga-ga they were for one another. They loved holding one another, whispering sweet nonsense and laughing hysterically together.
The only thing I love more than finding the “perfect location,” is capturing genuine interactions of love; which happened frequently and effortlessly.
I found myself asking them to simply talk to one another often because I knew something wonderful would happen.
Thank you Brenda and Vallerie, for sharing your day with me. Not only did you ignite my camera, but you reminded me of how wonderful love is. I hope you enjoyed your Portland fall engagement as much as I did. 🙂
