I am so excited. THIS. IS. HAPPENING. I repeat, I am SO excited!
I will start by saying that branding your business is no easy feat. When I initially opened up Susie Moreno Photography I knew I was going to have to rebrand in the near future and because I know my vision for my business was not showcased in its current presence. Thankfully, I was not doing this alone and I enlisted my very good friend Lilly from Wild Olive Branding Studio to help me create a consistent brand that visually spoke out to my ideal client. And so, without further ado, I present to you the new branding reveal for Susie Moreno Photography!
Now to give you the full story. I initially contacted Lilly with a vague request to help me brand my business. She quickly set up an appointment and sent over some questionnaires to get to know me, my business, my ideal client and my vision for where my business was going. WE WENT DEEP. I think Lilly could take on a role of a psychologist in order to get so much information from me. Because seriously, opening a window to a business owner’s head is like asking for a tornado at your door. For weeks upon weeks, I sent her emails, revised my answers, met with her and talked my head off about how my business started, what I loved about it, what I disliked about it, what my goals were and what I wanted out of it. I threw word vomit after word vomit at her and she never flinched, wrote everything down, took notes, asked questions and listened.
Lilly came back and presented her plan to me: how she could help, what I should expect and how to move forward. A few more meetings later, Lilly had sent me different tone boards so I can better visually see the direction she was heading with the branding. We moved forward with one that I was infatuated with and Lilly went from there. And what she came back with was phenomenal and I could not be more in love with the concept she created. I mean just check out all the goodies: a new amazing logo, watermarks and submarks, amazing graphics that I’m so infatuated with, color schemes, patterns, font pairings and a style and tone board that I can always reference back to.
I’ll be very honest, I don’t think I’m the easiest client in the world to work with. I mean, I have thought about this business for over 10 years. I’m re-imagined it hundreds of times. As a person who is running a business of one, I run every single aspect of the business and allowing someone else to come in with delve deep in your business can be very alarming. Because seriously, my business is my baby. Literally, my baby. I might as well rock it to sleep every night! Still, I knew I could trust Lilly in understanding what I needed for my business and I trusted in her talent to see it through further than I ever could but always envisioned. She didn’t fail. She was amazing and still is. Even after the major branding is complete, Lilly is still consulting me on how best to manage my brand online and offline.
On another note, a major part of my new branding reveal was that I changed website platforms to a Showit site. I’ve heard nothing but marvelous things about them and when I visited WPPI this past March I finally committed myself to learn this new software and give this platform a chance to help me create a more dynamic website. I’m still learning everything and getting more comfortable with the software every day, but I don’t think I’ll ever go back. It’s gorgeous!
For those of you who have been following me on Snapchat, you realize that I’ve been working on this site for about 2 months now. I cannot believe it took so long! And in all truths, I’m still finding small glitches that need some updates, but I believe that sometimes you just got to move forward even before you think you’re ready and so I did. I hit publish and the awesome folks at Showing helped migrate my old website into this new fabulous site Susie Moreno Photography will now call home. I couldn’t be more thrilled!
Now, if I was really on top of things, I would have updated everything immediately, but being a one person show who believes in self-care, I’ve decided to allow myself a few weeks to move the rest of my online presence towards the new branding. I mean, I do have a small trip to take up to Seattle, a few weddings and portrait sessions in the near future which will keep me fairly busy already. So please, check back and make sure you follow me through the rest of the process!
Thank you again, Lilly! You are an angel for working with me and ridiculously creative! If anyone wants to know more about Lilly’s graphic design services, please contact her at Wild Olive Branding Studio website.
